I built this just for fun, it is what I do. The idea of this guy is that he is a bit more badass and kitted up in armour.
I started with joints for camera mounts. These are strong and will take a little weight. An armature was made that the robot would be assembled over. The basic body was MDF boxes shaped to fit together.
It takes a lot of going back and forth to give the model enough room to move. It is all solid parts and so there has to be enough gaps to clear movement. It means a lot of compromise.
As the boxes were made and enough clearance given, the sections were detailed with kit parts. I treated this project as a complete kit bash exercise.
It is fun to just play with shapes to see what comes out of it. Sometimes it works, others not so. But either way I liked the unusual looks I was getting and also liked the layering of detail.
This thing has many moving parts and it became a mission to get it all working again after painting, especially the thin washes.
